interior architecture and design

Francesc Rifé | Spain

Interior design studio Francesc Rife took a traditional farmhouse in rural Spain and transformed it into a contemporary living space whilst still honouring its original architectural structure.

Located in Foixa, Gerona, the design practice added large windows to the stone structure, strengthening the dialogue between exterior and interior, flooding the rooms with an abundance of natural light. The outside areas, including a thatched canopy over the porch, unify the original central building to the newly added extension.

The interior decoration has been kept to a minimalist and
rustic style. The foundations are typical of the building type (terracotta stone floors and white stucco walls) to compliment the modern (mainly mid century) art and furniture collection which feature pieces from Jean Prouve and Charlotte Periand.
