Primitive Cricket Table

The Find

A more rustic and sculptural version of the ever popular
three-legged cricket table are those of the ‘primitive’ style.
In keeping with the wabi sabi idea of appreciating imperfections, the primitive styles are an easy way of making a side table slightly more of a feature.

Ideally around 2 foot tall and approximately 50 cm in diameter, try to find one that has a good patina and fine legs. They usually originate from the 18th century and were made in a variety of woods; elm, ash, oak, sycamore, burr (try to ensure that the wood of the legs matches that of the base).
