Primitive Bread Board

The Catch

Breadboards are a great kitchen accessory to invest in as, if the right style they can be used for several functions as well as styling up food when hosting.

The best bread boards, in my opinion, are those that look like they have taken a little wear and tear over the years and which give the kitchen a used, homely feel. Ideally they aren't totally contrived and that, once purchased you do actually use them in everyday life and that they aren't there for a purely visual purpose!

18th and 19th century breadboards were used for the actual making of bread and so are much larger - these are probably to big for everyday use but look great when stacked against smaller styles and are perfect for presenting cheese or
cakes when hosting.

Primitive breadboards are widely available, often look at Eastern European ones for the larger sizes or French for the smaller everyday. To ensure authenticity, look for styles with handles.
